Library News: December 29, 2023

Dear Reader:

By the time you read this, “Happy New Year!” will be the appropriate greeting.  The Russell & District Regional Library would also like to wish you the happiest of Happy New Year’s!  May the coming year be filled with love, health, prosperity, and peace.  And, should there be times that are less than celebratory, as there almost certainly are bound to be, remember that, “this too shall pass, it is darkest before the dawn, don’t give up on the brink of a miracle.”

The week before Christmas at the Russell Library and the Binscarth Library was relatively quiet.  For the handful of folks that showed up at the Russell Library on Wednesday evening, December 20th, to watch the movie classic, Die Hard, it was a groovy time.  The popcorn was fresh and hot, the adventure that Die Hard takes viewers on is still breathtaking.  Upon leaving your small-town library’s Gallery Theatre, viewers were veritably abuzz with the thrill of it all.  Thankfully, the simple things in life are still among the best things:  community, old movies, and manly men.

New books at the library for your reading pleasure are as follows:

Armor of Light by Ken Follet

Ball at Versailles by Danielle Steele

Burnout by Sophie Kinsella

Christmas Vanishing by Anne Perry

Daughters of the Night Sky by Aimie K. Runyan

Day by Michael Cunningham

Defector by Chris Hadfield

Exchange: After the Firm by John Grisham

Learned by Heart by Emma Donoghue

Little Liar by Mitch Albom

Paris Assignment by Rhys Bowen

Second Act by Danielle Steel

Secret: A Jack Reacher Novel by Lee Child
