Library News: February 2, 2024

Dear Reader:

Happy Friday, everyone!  And happy February.  This month has 29 days as this year is a leap year.  A leap year means we have an extra day to enjoy, to love, laugh, forgive, plan, heal, learn, live, read…  February is “I Love to Read Month.”   In honour of “I Love to Read Month,” the Russell & District Regional Library is kicking off a series of guest reader appearances at Russell’s Major Pratt School.  The librarians of Major Pratt, Donna and Lisa, have invited the librarians of R&DRL to read to students throughout February.  This exchange of the love of reading will not only increase awareness of Russell’s Public Library but also: “the children love to have a variety of people read to them,” says Donna Herechuk, Major Pratt Librarian. Thank you, Donna, Lisa, and Major Pratt proper for your hospitality.

In other Library News, we have a lovely lineup of Wednesday evening events in the Library Gallery for the month of February.  On February 7th, The Prairie Arts c’ARTel’s, Allan Tataryn, will be in house for a Meet the Artist evening.  Mr. Tataryn will also be showcasing some of his most recent and never- before seen works of art.  On February 14th, Miss Alissa’s Piano Concert is sure to delight listeners.  February 21st and 28th the Yachminka Ukraininan Dancers Cross-stitch Workshop Fundraiser will be taking place from 6-8 pm.

Night Owl Book Club meets on February 7th from 6:30-7:30 pm. Raven Book Club meets on February 5th from 1:30-2:30 pm.  Both book clubs always welcome new members.
