The Russell & District Regional Libraries are wonderful places to visit, this time of year especially! Both the Binscarth branch and the Russell branch have raffle baskets on display. Tickets are two dollars for one, five dollars for three. Please come on in and visit us soon. The draw for both raffle baskets will be on December 22nd at 3:00 pm.
On November 29th, the Russell Library Gallery was the scene of the cozy first gathering of Storytellers Unite. If you missed it, you were sorely missed! Between Open Mic Night and Story Tellers Unite, we are hearing a lot of beautifully creative local voices. We look forward to hosting more of such events in January.
On Saturday, December 2nd, Russell Library participated in the town wide festivities with its wildly successful hotdog sale. We sold out before 1:00 pm and enjoyed the steady stream of smiling faces. Even Mayor Judy stopped by for a dog! Thank you to the board members that braved the cold to serve our community with smiles. Thank you to everyone that came out to support the library hot dog sale. The Library Ladies are already looking forward to next year’s December hot dog sale.
While there are many things about this time of year that so many people enjoy, there are those of us for whom not everything about the season is blissful. Not all are united in the same beliefs, not everyone receives gifts. Many of us find the lead up to Christmas to be downright stressful. No matter how you feel about this time of year, good, bad, or ambivalent, remember that this too shall pass. The best is yet to come. Have faith. Remember too that if you live in the Municipal District of Russell-Binscarth, a Library Membership Card is free. If you don’t live in the Russell-Binscarth MD, an annual Library Membership Card is a wonderful gift for yourself and anyone else, for any occasion.
