Dear Reader:
Extra! Extra! Read all about it! We are pleased to inform you that our First Annual Community Appreciation & Book Sale was a wonderful success. Thank you to everyone that came in to The Russell & District Regional Library on Saturday, September, 23. Thank you for your support. Already, we look forward to next year’s event. Our Second Annual Community Appreciation Event, in the Autumn of 2024, will include a hot dog sale and live music to draw folks of all interests and persuasions. Thank you to everyone that brought in books to donate, specifically for our book sale. Thank you, Shelley Havelange, for the beautiful hand-knit mittens you donated for event. We still have a few left, should anyone be looking ahead for beautiful gifts. Thank you to Board Members: Kim McLeod, Darlene Armstrong, Cheryl Pushka, and Sandie Ross for bringing cookies that our guests enjoyed immensely. We sold a mountain of books and brought in almost $700.00. Books that have yet to find a home will be donated to various institutions around town to spread the goodness of books far and wide. Saturday’s Community Appreciation & Book Sale Event also brought five new Patrons to our family of library card holders: one woman newly relocated all the way from Los Angeles, California. Welcome!
Night Owl Book Club has had its first gathering of lovely readers. We have chosen to read John Vaillant’s The Golden Spruce: A True Story of Myth, Madness and Greed. If you would like to join the Night Owls, please come by the Russell Library for a copy of The Golden Spruce and/or come to our next gathering on October 4th at 6:30 pm in the Library Gallery.
“We know that in September, we will wander through the warm winds of summer’s wreckage. We will welcome summer’s ghost.” -Henry Rollins
