Library News, July 28th, 2023

Dear Reader:

Happy Friday!

Jenny Kostuik has completed her Field Placement at Russell Library.  Jenny leaves behind happy memories, and an amazing display for our Multilingual Section:  new and improved, it includes fiction and non-fiction titles for both children and adults in French, German, Ukrainian, and Tagalog. We wish you the very best, Jenny!

Over the years, we have had several children create their own Graphic Novels.  We feel that it is important to promote and encourage reading and creativity in children. We have collected the books they have written and have included them in our collection.  We are working on making a display of these books to not only celebrate their hard work but their imaginations and creativity as well.

Throughout the summer and through to the end of August, we have been running a Library Bingo.  We are thrilled with the number of participants participating in this program.  Library Bingo not only keeps participants engaged but also promotes exploration of all aspects of the library.  We still have bingo cards available at both the Russell and Binscarth branches if you would like to participate.

Thank you, Library Diva for playing Book Bingo with us and dressing up as a Princess!

Thank you, kind Sir, for participating in Book Bingo and completing the puzzle square!

We are looking to start up a LEGO program at the library.  If you or someone you know has some LEGO that is looking for a new home, please consider donating it to the library.

The hotdog fundraiser continues into August.  Hotdogs and cold drinks are available Wednesday evenings and Fridays from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM as well as in Binscarth on Thursdays from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM.  We have had an amazing turnout for hotdogs and would like to thank everyone from Russell and Binscarth for attending this fundraiser.  Proceeds from our hotdog sales go to improving your library.

Be sure to stop in at the Russell Library Farmers’ Market on Fridays from 11:00 – 2:00.  Explore the excellent selection of baked goods, in-season produce, baked goods, jam, jellies, and more!   Be sure to put your name in for the Project Hometown Draw while you are checking out the market.

For more information on any of our in library programming, The Russell Library Farmers’ Market, or anything library related, please contact the Russell Library at 204-773-3127 / ruslib@mymts.net or Binscarth Library at 204-532-2447 / binslb@mymts.net or message us on Facebook.
