THIS WEEK’S BOOK REVIEW courtesy of Jenny Kostuik: Book Lovers by Emily Henry

Genre: Contemporary fiction/romance

For fans of: Taylor Jenkins Reid, Carley Fortune, and Tessa Bailey

Currently available at the Russell Library in the New Release section.

Overview: In Emily Henry’s Book Lovers, we follow the lives of workaholic Nora Stephens, a cut-throat literary agent, and her beloved younger sister, Libby. Nora is not your typical romance heroine; she thrives in her high-powered job in New York City and has no interest in slowing down her hustle. Her one soft spot is her sister, Libby, who just so happens to be pregnant. Nora will do anything to make her sister happy, which is how she ends up in the small town of Sunshine Falls, crossing off summer bucket-list items with her sister. There’s just one wrench in her plans for care-free summer fun, the brooding Charlie Lastra. Does their rivalry hold the potential to give Nora the happily-ever-after she didn’t know she wanted?

My thoughts: Emily Henry is known for writing the perfect summer romances; and Book Lovers is no exception! Henry writes amazing banter between Nora and Charlie that manages to build chemistry and evoke enough emotions that you will be rooting for these two to put aside their differences to come together. While this book is a romance, it does not fall short on delving into heavier topics such as inter-familial relationships and work-life balance. As a city girl myself, I found it refreshing to read about a career-focused protagonist maneuvering through the romantic world in a quaint, small town. I would absolutely recommend Emily Henry’s Book Lovers to anyone in the mood for a heartfelt and witty read.

Jenny awarded this book a 4 out of 5 stars!
