Dear Reader:

As promised in last week’s issue; Russell & District Regional Library’s Art Gallery, artists currently on display, Bio(s):

Hi! My name is Bridget Panych and I am an artist based out of the Langenburg area.  I took art classes in high school, where I explored oil, paint and plaster mediums.  When I moved to Langenburg, I was inspired to pick up painting again after I took an art class with my partner, Adam Layh.  The class was taught by his mother Jan Layh, a local renowned artist and art influence in the community.  In my paintings, my aim has been to explore balance and the human form.

My name is Adam Layh.  I live in Langenburg at Flav’r Country Ranch.  My mother, Jan, got me interested in art at an early age.  I have been attending her art retreats for approximately 20 years.  I have also been hosting art retreats for 12 years, usually working on a vast array of different mediums and styles.  Painting is one of the various mediums of art I enjoy.  These particular paintings have been inspired by vintage photography.

In other Library News:

Binscarth is a quaint community of approximately 425 inhabitants.  A close-knit and friendly people, Binscarthians proudly support The Bisons, The Park and Pool, The Gordon Orr Memorial Museum, Rob’s Place and Greenhouse, Little Bloomer’s Learning Patch Inc., the Drop-In Centre and last, but not least, the Binscarth Library.

On March 23rd, the Binscarth Branch of The Russell & District Regional Library hosted a lively time of Cookies, Coffee, and Cards, at the Binscarth Drop-in Centre, from 4pm to 5pm.  While there were some hiccups, as there are bound to be at a first-time event, those in attendance had such a good time that they all agreed there should be another one.  And so it is that Binscarth Library will host another Cookies, Coffee, and Cards event.  The venue will be the same.  It will begin an hour earlier.  We’ll put up posters around Binscarth, on Facebook and on Instagram with all the details.

By the time you read this, Russell Library will have had its first Open Mic Night.  Oh! How we have been looking forward to it.  And, oh, how we hope we will have had a groovy time to tell you all about!

NOTE:  Russell & District Regional Library is looking for a Summer Student Volunteer.
