Library News for the Week of September 19th

Joan Havelange has graciously donated her new book titled “Murder Exit Stage Right.”

Mabel & her best friend Violet are in the middle of it again. Mysterious accidents & sabotage are afflicting the Glenhaven Drama Festival. The reasons for all these problems must be solved to figure out the murderer.

We also have Joan’s other books Wayward Shot, Death & Denial, The Trouble with Funerals, & The Suspects at both Russell & Binscarth libraries.

With Truth & Reconciliation Day fast approaching (Sept. 30th) we have a few books that might encourage understanding & inspire discussions with your little ones about the significance of this day. The Orange Shirt Story is the true story of Phyllis Webstab (author) & her first experience going to a residential school. It is also the story of Orange Shirt Day & it’s importance to all Canadians.

Is there a particular book that you have been anxious to read but don’t wish to purchase it? We may have it either in our Russell or Binscarth library. If not, we can try to request it from other Manitoba libraries. And don’t forget about the Libby app for use with e-Libraries Manitoba. All you need is your patron number & your password. If you should need any assistance with any of these give us a call 204-773-3127 in Russell or 204-532-2447 in Binscarth, e-mail ruslib@mymts.net or binslb@mymts.net, or message us on any of our Facebook pages.

The Russell Farmers’ Market will be on this Friday from 11:00 – 2:00. Don’t forget about our hotdog fundraiser. If you would like to join us on Fridays, please do not hesitate to contact us using the above-mentioned phone numbers & email addresses you can also contact us via our Facebook page Russell MB. Farmers’ Market.

Rayla is continuing with Story Time on Mondays 10:30-11:30. No pre-registration is required. She also has a Coffee Hour in the afternoon just for adults 1:30-2:30. We encourage those that attend to sit, relax, do a puzzle, play a game, or read a book. If you prefer, we can also hook you up with one of our audio books to listen to while you have a coffee. Our computers are also available during this time.

Speaking of the gallery The PRAIRIE ARTS cARTEL always has amazing & inspiring displays whether it be their own artwork or that of a local or distant artist. The gallery hours are the same as the library.

The Beth Naylor Collection also has two exhibits inside the library & the gallery. The ladies carefully design the displays & they usually put up little write ups about them.

“Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.” – Lauren DeStefano, Wither
